Fly
There are two domestic airlines that fly into Tamarindo from either
Liberia or San Jose. Once in Tamarindo you can either catch a cab
or have your rental car agency meet you at the airport. Book your
tickets at www.flysansa.com
or www.natureair.com
. If you are flying with surf boards make sure and let the airlines
know as there are size and weight restrictions.
Bus
If you are flying into San Jose and would rather catch a bus you
can book your tickets at www.fantasy.co.cr
or www.costaricapass.com.
From Liberia the only service is www.costaricapass.com.
The bus will take you to Playa Tamarindo and from there you can
either arrange for a cab, water taxi, or rental car to get to Grande
Drive
If you prefer to rent a car, most major companies have offices in
San Jose, Liberia and some in Tamarindo. We recommend using www.economy.com
which has locations in all three places.

From San Jose (Use these great maps of Costa Rica - Click)
From the airport get on the Pan American Highway (Hwy 1) north for
approximately 2 hours toward Liberia/Penas Blancas (follow the road
signs). You can follow signs for Tamarindo starting almost right
away. Just after passing Matapalo (may or may not be apparent),
turn left toward the Tempisque Bridge (also called Puente Amistad
de Taiwan) – be watching for the sign.
Once you cross the bridge, you continue going straight until you
come to a “T” intersection, at which you turn right,
toward Nicoya and Tamarindo. Now heading north, continue until Belen,
where you turn left toward Tamarindo and Playa Grande.
After about 20 minutes, you will go over a steep hill and come to
a cross-roads town called Huacas. The signs will say to turn left
to go to Tamarindo, but you will continue straight for another 5-8
minutes until you reach a small town with a soccer field called
Matapalo (different town, same name as the one before).
Following the signs to Playa Grande, you will turn left immediately
after passing the soccer field. The road will turn to dirt and you
will continue for about 10 minutes.
When you arrive in Playa Grande follow the signs towards RipJack
Inn. The specific location is 75 meters to the east and 100 meters
to the south of Hotel Las Tortugas. We are right on the corner,
with no immediate neighbors, and two stories.
